Jan. 24th, 2009 07:57 pmThis has been on my mind for a while, but is anyone else totally annoyed that Capcom hasn't released a single piece of information regarding Gyakuten Saiban/Ace Attorney 5? (Besides the fact that they are indeed making one?) They're really pushing for Gyakuten Kenji to be a success, but given the choice between a spin-off game and an entry to the main series...? I want the addition to the main story! XD Sorry, Mr. Edgeworth! I choose Prosecutor Gavin! XD It's been way over a year since Apollo Justice was released in Japan, so what's with the hold up? What's wrong with working on two games at once, right? Oh well. XD I just hope they tell us what they have planned before GK comes out... I guess the release date has been pushed all the way back to the end of May--for Japan! Noooo! XD
So. As I mentioned in my most recent post, my first week of school ended yesterday, and looking back, it was actually pretty good. Here's what my schedule looks like for this semester:
I have to say... I love my programming class. I actually enjoy going to it, and the lab this past Thursday was really fun. It was mostly just getting acclimated to the software and learning the basics--edit, compile/debug, execute--but it was still really interesting. The TA thought I had a real knack for it as someone walking in as a beginner, so that was encouraging.
I was also pleasantly surprised with how German worked out this semester. I really liked my teacher from 1105, but there was a rumor going around that she wouldn't be teaching the 9 AM class this spring, which was the only time I could fit in the class. But! When I got my syllabus the day before classes began, I found out that she was my teacher, which made me super-duper happy! XD Yay! Once again, I have avoided a cruel fate with Manfred von Karma as my instructor. XD
Let's see... Accounting is interesting. Everyone keeps saying that it's really difficult for an introductory class, but I'm trying not to let that get to me. My teacher--and I'm so sorry that I keep throwing in all these Ace Attorney references--reminds me of Apollo, except taller and minus the hair-antennae. I might have a crush on him. I had to go up to his desk to turn in a form and floated back to me seat because he said "thank you very much" and smiled at me. XD
And finally, Macro. I can't get a good read on this class yet because we really haven't had any assignments outside of attending the lectures. My professor looks like he took a wrong turn on the way to Wall Street and accidentally ended up at Virginia Tech instead. The way he dresses, carries himself, talks... Very impressive, and a nice guy from what I can tell. He definitely knows his stuff, unlike my Micro professor who was... unconventional, we'll say. XD
Oh, and math is math. I don't care to talk about it. XD
On a more personal note... Andy and I are back together! YAY! XD ♥ Back in August, we mutually decided to end things since we were both headed off to different schools in completely different parts of Virginia. I guess we never really got over each other though... So, long story short, we talked, and agreed to try out a long distance relationship for a while. Again: YAY! XD
Anyways, that's all I really have to say for now. I hope you guys are doing well! :D

And like last semester, Math is taken online and never actually meets. I take my tests on Tuesday/Wednesday.

Jan. 1st, 2008 08:10 pmI was stumped for a title so I used my neighborhood-friendly title-generator to create a heading for this post. It's actually quite handy and unlike most generators, at least the nonsense it spits out is pretty. The Ships of the Silence, The Only Bridge, The Soul's Blade, Lonely River, The Darkest Voyages, etc. ;D Try it some time!
Back to business: Happy New Year, everyone! It's hard to believe that it's already 2008. I think my brain suffered some Y2K damage back when we swapped millenniums because I tend to use that as my point of reference on the time-line-of-life. 1998 still feels like two years ago, not ten! And how weird is it that I'll be 18 this month! I'm old. I'll have to start taking full responsibility for everything and get a job and be a grumpy, frazzled old-person. Wait... I'm already something of a grumpy old-person...! XD Just joking, maybe. And no offence to the over-twenty crowd that sometimes pops in for a quick read; clearly that's not my real opinion of you. If it was, I'd make a point of making you un-grumpy.
I was reading some embarrassing/lame/old/putrid journal entries of mine from a blog long since axed-- this is becoming a really bad habit --and I came across a term I haven't used in a long, long time.

I think it's been a year since I last threw that word out in the open in normal conversation, and many months since I last typed it. ((I could be wrong. I could have used it last week and simply forgotten. XD )) It made me smile when I saw it crop-up in an old comment; I used to use it when I was elated or thought something was awesome. I think I'll use it now, in a sentence.
Life is so taylor-tastic!
Truly. If I could impart just one lesson to each and every person out there, I would remind people that life is a gift and it's up to you to unwrap it for the better. It might come as a surprise, but Kit was actually the person who inspired me to think this way. Two summers ago he sent me an email about how I was whiney and kept an atrociously morose blog that needed an attitude adjustment. At first, I cried. I really like that blog at the time. I also really liked him, and I had just failed my driver's test. XD I wanted nothing more than to jab him with safety-scissors, until I realized that he was right, my blog was crap-tastic and absolutely everything about it was glum and sad and grumbling.
Since then, I've made a strong effort to only dote on things that bring me joy, rather than things that bring me grief and sadness. Think about it; a diary is really just a series of reflections. If you only reflect on things that make you sad, it's going to affect your mindset. However, if you focus on the things that stimulate you with feelings of happiness and delight, it can only help you cope with the hardships each and everyone of us are bound to face. Preachy? Maybe a little, but try it some time. Try it for week. Each day, write about something that makes you happy and tell me if it doesn't make you smile. It will. :D
In other news, I sanitized my journal the other day in order to make way for the new year. Basically, I killed all my icons, did minimal house-cleaning on some of the entries and attempted to change my layout. 2/3 is nothing to complain about!
Nerd-gasm: I love Phoenix Wright with each passing minute. Seriously. I got the first game for Christmas but I was hooked way before I even held the cartridge in my hands. XD All I had to do was check out some of the characters and I knew straight away that it would be my sort of cast. XD
Naturally, I have the world's biggest unobtainable-crush on one Miles Edgeworth-- who shows up to prosecute in a cravat every single day of his poor, desolate, miserable life --and think Detective Gumshoe is adorable. Plus, Phoenix/Miles is just so canon, not that I plan to pursue that... immediately. XD If you're an Ace Attorney fan and haven't done so, give me a shout-out so we can chat.
