My computer is fixed, and it turns out that I won't be going to Maine for my aunt's funeral because I need to stay behind with my sister, who has an exam Thursday morning that she paid to take and can't miss. I really wanted to go, and I feel a little guilty. D: More on that a little later. I'm really bummed out over a lot of things right now, but those are tales for a different entry. :D

SO. I want to reach out and pretty much hug all of you for being so supportive of me the other day when I had my pre-orientation mini-meltdown. Even though I didn't reply to anyone's comments, I got a chance to peak at them via hotel computer and they made me feel so, so, so much better. :D Everyone was so kind at VT -- I know the Hokie community is famous for being very supportive and nurturing to it's members but I didn't realize how much until I actually got there and started talking to some of the current students. I actually ended up making a friend that was Facebook-worthy ((LOL!)) and we're planning to meet up again when school starts to explore the campus and find our way around. He managed to get into the school's prestigious architecture program so if I ever need to take advantage of the art buildings, I'll have a foot in the door. XD

I was really, really proud to learn that essentially all of my AP credits were excepted and verified when I went to create my schedule. I took eight AP courses in high school and six of them were accepted so... that pretty much means that I can cut an entire semester of school, which is awesome. ((As expected, I completely failed my Calculus exam, which doesn't mater because I was going to end up re-taking that class anyway. XD )) All that hard work definitely paid off in the end. Yay!

Anyways, Lori suggested that everyone post their schedules when they have them finalized, so here's mine:

Monday

GER 1105 - Elementary German - 9:05 AM - 9:55 AM
ECON 2005 - Principles of Economics - 12:20 PM - 1:10 PM

^ I get to jump into my major early because of those APs! :D

Tuesday

ACIS 1504 - Intro Bus Info Sys - 9:30 AM - 10:45 AM
SOC 1004 - Introductory Sociology - 2:00 PM - 3:15 PM

Wednesday

((See Monday))

Thursday

*MATH 1525 - Calculus with Matrices - 8:00 PM - 8:50 PM

This class is online so I only have to "show up" for it once. I can do the course work any time, anywhere I want, and if I need help, I can go to my assigned professor.

((See Tuesday))

Friday

((See Monday))

Hah! So that's a pretty nice schedule, I think. I'm not wild about some of the prerequisite courses I have to take ((example: Intro Bus Info Sys)) but it'll work out in the end, when I can pick courses that are a little more interesting. :)

I guess I never mentioned this but my goal is to graduate with a B.S. in Economics. Everyone's giving me a really hard time about this and insist that I should major in art, but... Ugh. Since I know people who intend to major in art, I'll just hold my tongue before I even get started. XD I have some many reasons why I would hate that major...

So, those are the details. I'm pretty tired at the moment because after the long rides to and from VT, I had to hop in the car right after and drive to Maine, which is where I am currently and where I'll be spending the remainder of my break. Time for some much needed sleep! ;D

Love,

Popo

Close Call

Whew... Abbey had a close call today-- we have some guys here taking down trees in the backyard who stupidly brought along two Bull Mastiffs for the job and one of them took a bite out of my poor old dog! D: They gave her a deep puncture wound under her right ear that stretches about 3/4 of an inch and a small puncture on her upper neck.

We rushed her to the nearest vet, who turned away our bleeding baby because "they were all full" and sent us to the emergency clinic in Portland-- 20 minutes away! Anyways, the vet there advised us against stiches because she's so old and would need to be sedated, so for now she's on some pills. The poor thing... She was scared to get out of the car when we brought her home because she could see the dogs at the end of the driveway. She was trembling all over and hugging close to Dad. Even though the two dogs were ((literally)) chained up, the man who owns them is graciously excepting to pay the medical bills. I still feel bad... She's 10 1/2 and this is the first time she's been bitten.

Just needed to get the event in writing--

Outpost of the World. Sounds like it should be a book or something! XD Anyways, hello from Maine! I'm enjoying my-- get ready --summer house near the sea, soaking up the clouds and humidity and old-people smell and all of Maine's other charming amenities.

Hah, okay... It's not that bad. We've spent the last week renovating my nana's house, which we bought a few months ago when her landlord mentioned that the lot was going up for sale and that she'd have to leave. The transformation is going swimmingly so far-- we've completely turned around two bedrooms, moved in about 1/3 of the furniture we'd been keeping at the other house, and are planning to more or less make the place livable again. I'm excited-- Lori, you are SOOO coming up with me next Summer. XD

Aside from painting, making runs to the town dump, pulling up carpet, laying wood, and eating blueberries responsibly, I've been lurking around dA and working on some school assignments. I just love my AP Government work-- the opening instruction is something along the lines of "read the whole dang Constitution, bitch!" How wonderful! Here's a hot tip for you English folks-- you can find the text for No Exit online instead of paying $11.99 for the script-and-some-others at Boarders. Yes, I'm a very begrudging student, aren't I? XD

As for other interesting tid-bits, my work at FESS is driving me up the wall at the moment. XD There's this kid there who thinks he's some brilliant artist when he honest to goodness cannot even draw a stick figure properly. I'm not even joking-- it's sad and I actually want to cry every time he posts ((which is quite often)) because with each new topic he makes, a volley of well justified, un-deleteable flames appear, telling him to take a hint and get some help. Ugh. And what's more, I was in the process of making a resource thread when someone else went and approached me about making one himself. I said, "Hey! Let's team up and make one together!" and he replied with "lol oK." So what does he do? He makes the thread, makes it ugly, makes a really half-assed post with zero resources and walks away like it's okay.

IT'S NOT OKAY. DX

So-- now I have to find a way to gently tell him that his thread makes my eyes bleed and that I'll take care of the tricky stuff and he can feed me links. Yay.

That's enough ranting for now-- I think I'm sort of grumpy as I write this because I'm having massive Roger-withdrawal at the moment. XD And please... If you're reading this, for the love of all things holy, leave me a comment! I feel like I'm isolated! XD I miss my LJ buddies and I miss a certian community! I love you! Love me back! XD

Wub,

Popo

PS: Who's that strange man in my mood icon? He seems familiar but... o___o;
