Bwah! °___°; So there's been a change of plans — instead of leaving for Blacksburg ((AKA VT Orientation Land!)) tonight, I'm leaving in an hour. Yikes! I don't really have time to be making this post, but I'm hoping that it'll help me settle down a little. I'm so nervous; I have such a hard time making friends at warp speed. I can do it over the course of like, a week, but I struggle when I need to pick up some buddies in, you know, the course of an hour or so. Ugh... It's times like this when I wish I was a little more outgoing, our at least better versed in the art of small talk. I'm hoping things will go well, but we'll just have to wait and see, I suppose. I'm definitely excited to sign up for my classes though. My AP scores were good enough that if things go well with all my paperwork and score reports, I won't have to take any English at all in college, nor will I have to take any history. I plan on replacing English with German. XD That'll be fun.

See you all in a few days! Wish me luck! XD

Love,

Popo

Just relax and go with the flow. You're not going into an environment where everyone else around you is cool and relaxed; there are hundreds, even thousands, of women saying the exact same thing in their own LJs, Xangas, MySpaces, Facebooks, etc.

So relax, be friendly and open, and next thing you know, you're going to have a shitload of friends. I can't promise all of the drama of high school is gone, but it'll be a lot more manageable now. :)

Trust me, you'll be fine. Just about every student who goes to orientation is going to feel as nervous and excited as you, even if they're going with a couple of their friends. Orientation is all about meeting new people and adjusting to a new period in your life. Everyone's in the same boat.

As for English and History, it might depend on what the university takes---some universities spit on AP, which just makes me go -_- hardcore---and others will only waive one requirement, or they might waive all of them. All depends on policy and red tape. Definitely find out what VT does with AP scores.

I'm amused to read that you're going to VT though. We're neighbors! Well, state neighbors, anyway. ;)

LUCK!

Don't worry, lots of other people are in the same position as you, so you definitely won't be alone. Basically...just go with the flow of conversation, ask questions about the other person (nothing too personal, obviously) - people like talking about themselves. I'm still working on not being so shy, but I've found I've gotten a bit better at it as I've gotten more practice.

I can't say much about AP scores/credit since...well, I was in English minor, so I took English classes anyway, and my AP credit was only good for the equivalent of 1 class in my school. XD

Eh, I know you'll be straight. XD
You're probably enjoying it right now! ^_^

I was the same way, but it was fine once I got to school and got settled. :) Blacksburg is so pretty, isn't it? I always love driving past there. :)

Hooray for the AP scores! I took a lot of dual-enrollment classes in high school, and that definitely helped me out a lot.

Guten Tag Frauline!

Good Luck with that! (though word is you're back in town) but with college and everything! : D

you'll do fine...I don't know anyone who DOESN'T want to be your friend. and I find going to actual social gatherings (that you were invited to) helps a lot. though you may not know a lot of people, there will always be that one Guy or Gal (ex. Me) who will see you at a party and go "hey, she's the kind of person I want to have as a friend"

lol
