Party-Pooper D:

Nineteen is a weird, useless age to be. All the responsibility and none of the perks, in my opinion. I just tried to see BrĂ¼no with my sister--who is sixteen--and the guy at the ticket office turned us away because I wasn't old enough to buy her a ticket. Is that right? Do you really have to be twenty-one to buy a minor a ticket to an R-rated movie? I honestly thought that you had to be eighteen or older. He was a real ass about it too, which is probably the real reason why I'm more than a little irked right now. Oh well. We're going to stay in and watch The Blues Brothers, which is fine by me. :)

Actually, there's no "law"... which is actually part of the problem. It's the MPAA that actually sets the rules, which are "voluntarily" enforced by the theatres (read: "Enforce this law or we're going to stop renting our film to you"). The MPAA's rule is 17 or above, under 17 with an adult 21 or over.

So technically, the minimum wage slug at the theatre did his job. Of course, he hates his lot in life and everything about it, so he had to take it out on you two, but that's probably the only thing that's going to make his miserable life happy tonight, so meh... either way, sorry you and your sister got screwed, but it looks like you managed. XD

That's what I though. I know for a fact that people have been able to buy their friends/etc. tickets without being twenty-one; I guess I just picked the wrong guy to mess with. XD I figured out later that if we had gone to a different theater, they probably would have let us in. The one we went to is usually always pretty crowded, but it's close to home. There's one on the other side of town that is almost always empty and they don't really care about the rules, but we didn't go there because the area can be a little shifty at night.
