So... is it normal to feel ill after getting a flu-shot? I had my first one ever yesterday afternoon, and I was fine, until this morning. I woke up with aches and pains, and now I feel like I'm about to be violently ill. My limbs don't really want to work right, and neither does my brain... Sorry for another sick post! D: I've honestly never been this busy before in my life--that's why I haven't been able to leave a proper entry or write back to any of you. I've been getting your letters though, and I really appreciate it. :)

Yes, it is. Remember, you're being shot with a small version of the virus in order to build your immunity to it.

That's true. I guess I'm just surprised by how bad I feel. The virus is supposed to be dead, so... I was under the impression that my immune system would quietly absorb it instead of pitching a fit and making me feel nasty. Ah... sorry for another sick post though. I suppose I bother to announce things like this because I don't have Doctors Mom and Dad around to tell me its okay. XD

Yes! It's a sign that your body is responding well to the flu vaccine, as strange as that sounds. You getting sick means your body is producing a strong immune response to the vaccine.

Now, if it STAYS this way for a while, then it's something to be concerned about. In the interim, stick with hot fluids, rest when possible, and eat three squares a day to ensure you don't get a bug while your immune system is reacting to the vaccine.

Well, that's good to know! I suppose most people figure that the worse the reaction, the worse off the immune system. I'll make myself some tea and force myself to eat and go to sleep at a decent hour. I have a few tests tomorrow, so I really need to be in good shape by morning. XP

Ugh that sucks! I got my flu shot and nothing happened to me... I am pretty strong against sickness though. :P
I hope you feel better soon cause you definitely dont deserve that! Hopefully they didn't give you too much of the flu in that shot. XD

And I definitely feel you on the busy part. My contact with everyone has really been slacking. Ahh well, I'm sure they can forgive us. Get well soon! :D

I never really got that sick with flu shots or the like.

I remember several days during my entire school years that I was the only one to go to school while all my siblings were down with something, guess that means I have a super immune system. :(

You're so lucky to have such a strong immune system! D: I find that as I get older, I'm more susceptible to getting sick. Here's to a healthy winter...? XD

How interesting, they make you sick to keep you from getting sick. I've never had any flu shots myself, so I've been lucky. I believe the last time I had flu (or something) was like four years ago. I was REALLY sick then. The doctor diagnosed it as an "upper respiratory infection," so I don't know if that was the same as the flu or what...

Yikes! Upper respiratory? It might have been phnemonia! :O

Well, possibly. But it was years ago, so I'm well over it now (thank God). I think that was the worst sickness I've ever had.
